Uploaded PDF file size too large?

Quick tips for compressing PDFs to retain a FAST signing experience

If you received the following error message, "The Provided PDF is too large", it means that the PDF you uploaded is above the current file size limit (*which has a max file size of 5mb ). This typically occurs when a PDF has scanned page images (i.e., the text is no  longer highlightable/selectable) instead of normal PDF pages.

We cap the PDF size in Harbour to ensure your signers have a fast and easy experience when they sign agreements with Harbour, especially on mobile and data-capped browser instances.

The best practice when you receive this message is to make your PDF smaller by compressing it first. Here is a common method using Adobe Acrobat:

One-click option to reduce the PDF file size
  1. Open a PDF in Acrobat DC
  2. Choose File > Reduce File Size or Compress PDF
  3. Choose the location to save the file and click Save. Acrobat DC displays a message showing the successful reduction in PDF size
  4. Upload the newly compressed version of the PDF into Harbour
